Wedged!

A few weeks ago, John woke me up out of a dead sleep to see if I was okay. Through my confusion and sleepiness, he told me that I was breathing funny and he was worried. Well, this has happened at least 4 times over the past 2 weeks. He concluded that as long as I sleep on my side, I am fine.

Then as I was reading one my pregnancy books, he was reading over my shoulder - right where it explains that at this point in the pregnancy that I should stop lying flat on my back for all the various reasons. And of course he boasts a triumphant "Told you!"

So, now he has stopped waking me up in the middle of my slumber when I unconsciously roll onto my back while sleeping. You would think that I would be content again -

No, he now has resorted to totally wedging me against my body pillow. I now wake up in the middle of the night to find that I have about 1 foot of room to sleep because he is right up against me to prevent me from having room to roll onto my back. WE HAVE A KING SIZE BED! We may as well sleep in a twin bed.

The thing is - it's really sweet that he is that concerned about me and the baby. Not only is he a a great husband...I know that he is going to be a great father!

very sweet, you are right, he is going to be great!

and soon, you will wake up on your own when you are on your back because you will be so uncomfortable with the pressure!

i am a stomach sleeper, so i was completely miserable... the first thing i did in the hospital was lay on my belly and have a snoozefest!

That is too funny! John is adorable. I actually bought a pregnancy wedge which was helpful during my 2nd trimester. In my 3rd, I used a pillow between my legs. I used to be a back sleeper, but, since retraining myself, I can only sleep on my side now!

Pajama mom's sis-in-law here. Congrats on the baby! I have a nine month old and I am a back sleeper. I was so worried about sleeping on my side but my doc said I could do it as long as I was comfortable. For all the reasons you are supposed to sleep on your side he said if your body/baby needs you to roll you just will. GOOD LUCK!!!
